Volunteer Code of Conduct

Placer Community Theater depends on volunteers to create a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for artists, crew, patrons, and guests. This code applies to directors, actors, technical staff, front-of-house staff, and all other volunteers while participating in theater activities.

Our Expectations

Volunteers are expected to:

• Treat everyone with respect, patience, and professionalism.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive environment free from harassment, bullying, discrimination, or intimidation.
• Follow the directions of the production team, house manager, stage manager, or other designated leaders.
• Arrive on time, communicate promptly about absences or delays, and complete assigned responsibilities reliably.
• Use theater spaces, equipment, costumes, props, and materials with care.
• Respect personal boundaries, privacy, and confidentiality.
• Avoid disruptive behavior, unsafe conduct, or the use of alcohol, cannabis, or illegal drugs while volunteering.
• Represent the theater positively when interacting with cast, crew, patrons, families, vendors, and the public.

Role-Specific Responsibilities

Directors and production leaders should set a respectful tone, communicate expectations clearly, and address concerns promptly and fairly.

Actors should support a collaborative rehearsal and performance environment, respect the work of fellow performers and crew, and follow direction from the creative and stage management teams.

Technical staff should follow safety procedures, use tools and equipment responsibly, and communicate clearly during rehearsals, performances, load-in, and strike.

Front-of-house staff should welcome patrons courteously, follow ticketing and safety procedures, and help create a positive experience for every guest.

Reporting Concerns

Volunteers who experience or witness conduct that conflicts with this code should report the concern to a director, stage manager, house manager, board member, or other designated theater representative. Concerns will be handled as respectfully, promptly, and confidentially as circumstances allow.

Accountability

Volunteers who violate this code may be asked to correct their behavior, leave an activity, step away from a role, or discontinue volunteering with the theater, depending on the seriousness of the situation.

By volunteering, each person agrees to help uphold these standards and contribute to a safe, respectful, and enjoyable theater community.
