Our Board

Michael Pierce - President

Michael’s foundation in theater began early, working in scene shops under the influence of his father, a workshop manager for several major Australian production companies, including the Australian Opera Company. Surrounded by craftsmanship and large-scale productions, he developed a deep appreciation for the art and engineering behind the stage.

He later earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Sydney and went on to complete an MBA at Rutgers University. While pursuing his engineering studies, he immersed himself in professional theater, supporting his education as a stage manager, lighting and spot operator, and member of stage crew. During this time, he began designing and building special effects, blending technical precision with theatrical storytelling.

After a successful career as an engineer and engineering manager in the electronics industry, Michael returned to the stage with a refined perspective. His work now focuses on scenic design and construction, alongside evocative lighting design—bringing together structure, atmosphere, and narrative in visually compelling ways. His designs have earned multiple Elly Award nominations, recognizing excellence in theatrical production within the region.
